What Jesus taught us to pray (Matthew 6:8-13) can be practiced with three steps.
1. Settle down (for yourself and others)
- Matthew 6:8 – “…your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
2. Start with God (for yourself and others)
- YOUR Name be honored
- YOUR Kingdom come,
- YOUR Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
3. Seek God for your needs (for yourself and others)
- Give us
- Forgive us
- Deliver us
I use this as my guide each day as I pray for myself and many others. I hope it will help you to stay focused in prayer.
Matthew 6:8-13
“your Father knows what you need before you ask him. “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
- hallowed be your name,
- your kingdom come,
- your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
- Give us today our daily bread.
- forgive us our sins, as we also have forgiven those who sin against us.
- lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
