Restoring humble and loving unity in relationships depends on a shared understanding of our common background and two daily affirmations.

- Romans 3:22-23 – “There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
This simple truth (all have sinned) should change the way we see each other. Notice that our sin is a “falling short of the glory of God.” Whatever else we fall short of (and there is plenty) the most significant is the glory of God. Human history is a shared narrative of “falling short of the glory of God.” We had a glorious beginning – made in the image of our glorious Creator. But we fell from glory.
