Life with God is ultimately relational.
Life against God is rejection of a relationship with the Creator and Redeemer who “so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
The Christian life is not first about what we do or about how hard we struggle to maintain thoughts that please God. It’s first about the One we choose to lift our souls to; the One we fear, love and trust with all our being.
“Teacher,” they asked Jesus, “which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’” (Matthew 22:36-37).
And we can only love Him “because he first loved us” (I John 4:19).
We bow our hearts
We bend our knees
Oh Spirit come make us humble
