If you’re uncertain of your standing with God, your walk with God will reflect it.
The apostle John wrote: “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us” (I John 4:16).
Do you know and rely on God’s love for you?
If you battle uncertainty –
Allow the truths below to transform your understanding of the security of God’s love for you.
Like a defense attorney building a case for the unchangeable certainty of God love, the apostle raised a series of rhetorical questions, leaving no doubt that we are unchangably and eternally secure in God’s love.
“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Here the apostle wants to remind us that none of these experiences (as hard as they could be) constitute a basis for questioning the security of God’s love for you.
Now for the grand-finale on the security of God’s love
Romans 8:38-39 – Memorize the final two verses.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
What a great foundation for life with God!
- We cannot be charged (Romans 8:33).
- We cannot be condemned (Romans 8:34; also 8:1).
- We cannot be separated from God’s love (Romans 8:35-39).
Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand (John 10:27-29, NIV).
Secure in undeserved love,
