In our local Sunday News, (Lancaster, PA.), I read associate editor Gil Smart’s critique of teh dreaded conservatives mistrust of government. Then I turned to Charles Krauthammer’s perceptive analysis of President Obama’s waning popularity. If Gil had followed the honest critique by Krauthammer, he could have corrected his misrepresentation of teh conservatives with the help of the pronoun “this.” It is not government in total that conservatives mistrust; it is this government—the Obama administration. And Krauthammer presents a strong case for the reasons behind the mistrust.
I am not a fan of the over-the-top reactions and apocalyptic analysis of the current administration by some conservatives. Perhaps this is why I appreciate the level-headed reasoning of columnists like Krauthammer http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/09/04/obama_the_mortal_98160.html
Just the facts.
